In this regard, Grupo Gicsa has announced that it will accept cryptocurrencies in alliance with the Bitso exchange.

Soon you can pay for anything

In its first phase, the bitcoin payment option was activated as early as March 4 and only in the Go Karts slopes in the Gicsa shopping centers in Paseo Querétaro, Explanada Puebla, Explanada Pachuca and Forum Cuernavaca.

"Subsequently, this alliance between Gicsa and Bitso will add new options to pay for products with cryptocurrencies, including multiple entertainment businesses, restaurants and shops," said an official statement sent to the press.

Payments can be made through Bitso Transfer, a service that the company offers through its mobile application. With it, users can make and receive payments with bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies at no additional cost for using the platform, as specified in its note.

“This step was taken to further enrich the user experience, making us pioneers in accepting another payment method such as cryptocurrencies in our shopping and entertainment centers. This is just the beginning of the grand plans we have at the company that will continue to put our developments one step ahead in the industry. " - Enrico Pontecorvo Goyenechea, marketing director of the GICSA Group.

What Gicsa does

Gicsa is a company dedicated to the construction, investment, marketing and management of shopping malls, offices, mixed-use projects and other projects in Mexico. It is not the first to accept bitcoin payments in the country, as international retail firm Elektra already took this step in December last year, in partnership with cryptocurrency service provider BitPay, as reported at the time.

In fact, the businesses owned by Mexican businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego, will be this March, the incorporation of payments through the Bitcoin Lightning network.

On the other hand, in November last year Bitso became a sponsor of the Tigres team of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL), which competes in the top division of Mexican football. With this alliance, the cryptocurrency exchange explores other areas as its application can be used by club fans to buy souvenirs in its virtual stores, to pay for food and drinks inside the stadium, and even to buy tickets. In short, we buyers can only benefit from it.
