BitTorrent, its own cryptocurrency on the Tron network. The well-known platform studies a new project on the network.
The popular platform of peer-to-peer BitTorrent file sharing has announced that it will create its own cryptocurrency using the network Tron. Among other use cases, the token will be usable by users to pay for faster download speeds of files on the uTorrent client.
BitTorrent Token on Tron
Founder Justin Sun commented on the decision to launch a specific digital token for uTorrent users in a blog post, recalling how "the BitTorrent token is the first in a series of useful steps to support decentralized internet ... The BitTorrent client can introduce a blockchain to hundreds of millions of users around the world and equip a new generation of content creators with tools with which distribute their content directly to other users on the web".
Binance Launchpad
The post goes on to specify that the token will be available for the first time to non-US investors through the token sales platform designated by Binance, Binance Launchpad. It will simply be called BitTorrent Token and will be traded under the BTT ticker.
The official BTT token whitepaper states that a total of 990 billion BTT will be set up.
