It has been a busy 2022 for cryptocurrency exchanges that have forged strong ties with sports franchises to build brand awareness.
In February, FTX bought the airspace at Super Bowl LVI with Larry David. Binance and Crypto.com (quotation CRO) have been active in the world of sport through advertising and sponsorship.
FTX is in the spotlight this month, as it will partner with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 racing team.
FTX and Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team Partner at the Miami GP
On Friday, the crypto exchange FTX announced a partnership for the Miami Beach race weekend.
From May 6-8, 2022, FTX and Mercedes-AMG Petronas will bring "the thrill of beach racing with all-day entertainment and a soundtrack to match, including the show's epic closing acts every day."
In addition to getting close to a Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1, there will also be an NFT gallery, where attendees can purchase and create their own NFTs before enjoying gaming experiences and more.
Through the FTX Off The Grid website, F1 fans and NFT enthusiasts can request their free NFT ticket to upgrade their experience.
FTX also tweeted to announce the three-day event.
Mercedes-AMG Petronas has announced the launch of the first in a series of FTX-powered NFT drops.
According to the announcement, eleven NFTs of digital artwork will feature Mercedes-AMG Petronas cars. Mad Dog Jones exclusively designed and created each NFT.
Several NFTs will be available for auction on the FTX platform during the Miami Race Weekend. The remaining NFTs will go up for auction later in the F1 season.
For F1 fans, “NFTs will be paired with a physical object”.
The announcement continues to say:
“Two are bundled with Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 rear wings wrapped in NFT artwork, which were driven on the track in Miami. The third NFT is paired with a full-size Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 replica car from 2022, wrapped in NFT artwork. ”
The auction for all three NFTs starts on Sunday 9 May. Proceeds from the auction will go to Ignite, “a joint charity initiative of Mercedes-AMG Petronas and Mission 44, to support greater diversity and inclusion in motorsport”.
Mercedes-AMG Petronas follows the McLaren F1 team into the NFT space
In January, FX Empire reported that the McLaren F1 team and Sweet have teamed up to launch the McLaren Racing Collective.
On the Sweet NFT marketplace, F1 collectors and fans could swap digital car parts and build an MCL35.
The 2022 NFT launch followed a summer 2021 launch where McLaren Racing gave fans the ability to collect 22 digital images to build a MCL35M 2021 F1 car.
An avid McLaren fan has procured all 22 digital components to build a Gulf X McLaren Livery collectible MCL35M 2021 XNUMX. The McLaren Race Collective is on the Tezos (XTZ) blockchain.
