Elon Musk suggests McDonald's accept Dogecoin - McDonald's replies "Only if Tesla accepts Grimacecoin"

Tesla CEO Elon Musk says he'll have a happy meal on television if McDonald's accepts cryptocurrency meme dogecoin (quotation DOGE). However, McDonald's replied: "only if Tesla accepts the grimacecoin". Musk's statement was a follow-up to a McDonald's tweet asking how cryptocurrency was doing on Twitter.

Elon Musk tries to convince McDonald's to accept Dogecoin

Tesla and Spacex CEO Elon Musk has offered to eat a McDonald's happy meal on television if the fast-food restaurant chain accepts dogecoin (DOGE) in a tweet on Tuesday.

At the time of writing, his tweet has been retweeted 34.3K times and received 229.1K likes.

Many people have expressed their excitement on Twitter, promising that they will eat at McDonald's more often if the restaurant chain accepts DOGE. Some have said they will pay at McDonald's with just the meme coin if that happens. Some people have asked McDonald's to consider accepting other coins, such as shiba inu (SHIB).

DOGE's price went up slightly after Musk's tweet. The price of the dogecoin was $ 0,1359 at the time. It quickly shot up more than 10% to $ 0,1496, according to data from Bitcoin.com Markets. However, the meme coin lost some of its earnings and dropped to $ 0,1419 at the time of writing.

McDonald's responds with 'Grimacecoin'

McDonald's official Twitter account tweeted in response to Musk. "Only if Tesla accepts grimacecoin," the fast-food restaurant tweeted to Tesla's boss. Grimace is a fluffy purple character who accompanies Ronald McDonald in McDonaldland commercials.

McDonald's also recently tweeted about cryptocurrencies in general. The company pinned a tweet it did on Monday that reads "how are people running cryptocurrency Twitter accounts." Many people have posted memes about McDonald's and cryptocurrencies, particularly when prices drop.

Musk, who was recently named Person of the Year by Time Magazine, has been a longtime proponent of meme cryptocurrency. He is also known in the crypto community as the Dogefather. Previously he said that he personally owns dogecoin and thinks the meme currency is the cryptocurrency of the people.

Tesla chief said dogecoin is the best cryptocurrency for transactions. On the contrary, he said that bitcoin is more suitable as a store of value. Additionally, his electric car company, Tesla, began accepting dogecoin payments for some goods last week.

What do you think of Elon Musk saying he will eat a happy meal on TV if McDonald's accepts dogecoin? And what do you think of McDonald's response? Let us know in the comments section below.
