Billionaire Kjell Inge Rokke is definitely aiming for Bitcoin

Norwegian investor Kjell Inge Rokke joined the party by also investing in Bitcoin. Rokke, who is Norway's second richest person, has launched a new company to invest in BTC and blockchain.

Rokke is a leading Norwegian investor with interests in oil and gas, engineering, fishing and construction. Its largest company, Aker ASA, announced that it has set up a new unit: Seetee AS. The unit will be able to count on a fund of NOK 500 million ($ 58 million) as initial capital and will maintain its liquid assets that can be invested in Bitcoin.

The billionaire, whom Forbes describes as a "ruthless corporate raider," has argued that Bitcoin will rise in the near future. In a letter to shareholders, Rokke revealed that he intends to become a HODLer.

“First, we will use bitcoin as a resource and join the community. In terms of Bitcoin, we will be hodlers. We will be different, but focused, ”he said.

Furthermore, he plans to invest in Bitcoin mining, taking advantage of intermittent electricity without stable demand. Rokke certainly has all the experience he needs in this industry, as his company is a giant in oil, gas and renewable energy. Third, it intends to build and invest in companies in the Bitcoin ecosystem.

While he admits that Bitcoin is still a risky investment, he believes its success is inevitable. He stated that: “Bitcoin could even go back to zero. But it can also become the hub of a new monetary architecture. If so, a bitcoin could be worth millions of dollars. People who know more about bitcoin believe that its future success is practically inevitable ”.

Another billionaire joins the race to buy

Rokke, whose net worth is $ 5,4 billion, revealed he doesn't want to be cut off, as Bitcoin is the future of finance. It has missed the train to mobile communications, it has lost high speed with the Internet, and is only now entering the software industry. However, with Bitcoin, he wants to be a leader.

“The direction is clear: finance as we know it today will come to an end as will fossil fuels. The question is not if, but when, ”he added.

Rokke has already started partnering with companies operating in the Bitcoin space. Today he joined Blockstream, a global leader in Bitcoin and blockchain technology, led by the famous Adam Back. The partnership will initially focus on mining operations before expanding into other areas.

Rokke is just the latest billionaire to bet on Bitcoin. The second richest man in the world, Elon Musk, is the most famous billionaire and Bitcoin fan. His company, electric vehicle giant Tesla (Tesla shares - ticker TSLA), recently bought BTC for a value of 1,5 billion dollars.

Mexico's second richest man, Ricardo Salinas Pliego, and the Wall Street titans including Bill Miller, Paul Tudor Jones, and Stanley Druckenmiller have all invested in cryptography.
