Marvel enters the cryptocurrency space by releasing Spider-Man NFTs

VeVe blockchain-based digital collectibles marketplace will begin selling Spider-Man non-fungible tokens. The initial NFT series will include five variants of the Marvel superhero, which will cost between $ 40 and $ 400.

Comic book giant Marvel Entertainment has partnered with the VeVe marketplace to launch the first official Spider-Man NFTs. The collectibles are available to fans of the superhero as early as Saturday 7 August. 32.000 people will have the option to purchase the cheapest option for $ 40, while the most expensive 1.000 NFTs will cost $ 400 each.

Marvel Entertainment President Dan Buckley said the release of Spider-Man-themed non-fungible tokens is just the beginning, as it could launch more digital superhero collectibles later this month:

“Spider-Man is one of the most legendary superheroes in the Marvel universe, so there was no better way to kick off our global digital collectibles experience with VeVe. We can't wait to bring even more exciting drops to Marvel fans and collectors throughout August and beyond. ”

In turn, David Yu - Co-founder and CEO of VeVe - praised the partnership with the entertainment company and revealed that they have been working on that collaboration for some time:

“It is very exciting to finally see our partnership with Marvel come to fruition. We can't wait to offer fans unique ways to collect their favorite Marvel superheroes and memorabilia in digital form. Marvel has been a great partner and we can't wait to celebrate 'Marvel Month' with fans around the world on the VeVe app. ”

Fox Entertainment has also entered the NFT trend

Non-fungible tokens have been a hot topic in recent months and many companies, actors, singers and athletes have joined the craze for invest in this new sector.

As reported in May, the Fox Broadcasting Company partnered with Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon to develop animated series based on blockchain technology.

The popular comedy show, called "Krapopolis," will launch NFTs featuring Rick, Morty and the other main characters in the animation. The series also plans to reward its most devoted fans with tokens that guarantee "exclusive social experiences".

In March, Marvel's main rival, DC Comics, also took a step forward in the NFT industry for one of its most iconic superheroes. The company also partnered with VeVe to launch a digital collection of Batman.
