BitGrail accuses hacker attack on cryptocurrency Nano - bitgrail

The Italian exchange BitGrail has posted a notice on its website informing users that hackers have stolen 17 million units of Nano (XRB) from its deposits (the cryptocurrency formerly known as Rai Blocks).

In particular, the press release complains that its internal controls revealed unauthorized transactions that led to a deficit of 17 million Nano from the portfolio managed by BitGrail. In light of this, the exchange has filed a complaint for such suspected fraudulent activity.

By virtue of the above, BitGrail he also announced that all transactions will be "temporarily suspended" during the investigation of the incident.

According to a post from the team of cryptocurrency Nano, the exchange would offer as a solution for what happened (the equivalent of the loss resulting from the attack amounts to about 170 million dollars) the modification of the ledger in order to cover the losses. An option that however the Nano development team claimed was not possible, and which would have been an unacceptable direction.

On Reddit, meanwhile, a user reported his misadventure on BitGrail, claiming to have lost $ 1,4 million in the hacker attack while doing del day trading on the exchange in order to find profit on Nano, and also complaining about a lack of prompt support from the exchange about "changed operations".

The news of the hacker attack on BitGrail has also risen to the forefront of the international news, with several analysts and observers who have highlighted how small exchanges can represent an even greater risk than their larger counterparts, which in themselves can be considered as rather risky.
